*Spoiler alert*
I'm going to reveal some things about the movie.... so if you don't want to have anything given away... don't read this!
ok,
So this weekend I got to go see Aquaman with some friends, it was pretty good. But I had a revelation to share.
So at one point aquaman comes busting out of the ground riding this creature that all the sea people thought was just a myth. He kind of jumps into a battle but all the people there just start attacking them. If you haven't seen it just imagine the biggest Godzilla ever... then double it. Not only that, he has this fancy gold trident that they thought was gone forever too! So he's got a weapon that basically controls everything, and he's riding (and commanding) a creature that they didn't even think was real because it's so big and powerful, and basically invincible. So they attack him....
Afterwards when we were talking about all the awesome scenes of the movie like men do, I made the comment "yeah if I was there and I saw him come busting out the earth riding this giant creature and waving that all powerful trident I wouldn't be attacking him... I'd be switching sides". I mean, you know you can't beat him.
This inevitably got compared to when Jesus returns, and he just comes busting out of the clouds, just radiating holy light and how we wonder if people will do that same thing. Say "naw, that's just a hologram", "you can't fool me, I know that aint real", or whatever.
Just made me think, the bible, and life, are riddled with stories of people who saw Jesus do amazing things and then fell away from him. No signs or miracles are going to bring you salvation. I mean peter walked on water and then denied Jesus 3 times. This was even after Jesus looked at Peter and said "you're going to deny me 3 times before the rooster crows." I mean he was warned, called Jesus a liar, and still did it.
This week is Holy Spirit week. I'll be honest I'm nervous, our speaker is wild, like legit seen some things. But what I love is that some of the things she talks about that were prophecy that she was given she held onto. They waited, made sure it was from God, and then delivered it. One of the biggest things coming here that I doubted was how grounded in scripture and truth the teaching on the Holy Spirit would be. So today was a good start, I have so much excitement and fear going into this week, I've heard it can get wild.
So kind of a random post, but just trying to share what's going on here.
